Just a Little History...
La Casa Rosa, also known as the
Pink House, is a family business that
has become a Texarkana tradition. It
has weathered many storms and
survived for 50 years because of owner
determination, delicious original
recipes, expert home cooking and
faithful customers.
Although it opened at 1321 State
Line on the Texas side, it has been at 1824

State Line for 46 years.
Kathy Moore and Shelly Ervin are the present owners. Both started learning the
business by simply growing up there as children. Kathy’s mother, Wita Caskey opened the
first La Casa Rosa in 1958, the mother, daughter and granddaughter team worked side by
side for several years before Miss Wita’s death in 1998.
David Moore CPA, Kathy’s husband handles the monthy books and Shelly’s oldest son
Quentin loves to come in and clean the windows. Bradley 2½ and Brice 9 months will soon
learn how to work and play at the pink house.
“It’s my mother’s business,” Kathy said. “It’s not mine and it’s not Shelly’s. Her
presence is here a lot.” Much of the menu is the result of Wita’s searching and collecting
recipes and adapting them for her customers. Celebrating 50 years in business this year is
truly a landmark and Miss Wita would truly be grateful — and excited.
